How does a rabbit win a Grand Champion Leg
Most shows are now ARBA sanctioned, which means you can earn Champion Legs through ARBA for show wins. And since most shows now sanction multiple shows in one day it is possible to earn multiple legs in a single day.
Earning a Champion Leg is all about the numbers. For any "group" the minimum requirement to earn a leg is 5 qualifying rabbits and 3 exhibitors.
Best in Show (BIS) and Reserve in Show (RIS) will win legs if there are 5 or more rabbits exhibited by 3 or more exhibitors.
Each breed will have a Best of Breed (BOB) that will earn a Leg is if there are 5 or more rabbits exhibited by 3 or more exhibitors for the breed. Best Opposite Sex earns a leg if that sex has 5 or more rabbits of that sex exhibited by 3 or more exhibitors within the breed.
Best of group and best of variety follow the same pattern. If within the group or variety, there are 5 or more rabbits exhibited by 3 or more exhibitors for the group or variety. Best Opposite Sex earns a leg if that sex has 5 or more rabbits of that sex exhibited by 3 or more exhibitors within the group or variety.
Equally, Best of class, as long as there are 5 or more eligible rabbits exhibited by 3 or more exhibitors for the class.
Any rabbit disqualified is not eligible to be included.
Only 1 Champion leg can be awarded to the same animal for the same show.
Certificates are emailed (or mailed) with Show Reports. Once a Rabbit is awarded 3 Champion Leg Certificates, a Permanent Champion Certificate can be acquired through ARBA if all other qualifications are met.
